General Information
Check all documents and visas required in each country to prevent any setbacks during your trip.
Travelling in South America
The following countries accept the original identification card as valid documentation:
- Argentina;
- Bolivia;
- Chile;
- Colombia;
- Paraguay;
- Peru;
- Uruguay.
WARNING: You must present a company letter at Immigration.
Passport
You will need the following documents to obtain a passport:
Photo
- Do not take a photo with you. It is taken digitally at the moment of the interview;
- For small children, take a color 5x7cm photo with white background.
Identification Card, CPF (Tax Registration Number), Voting Card and Proof of Residence
- Photocopies and originals;
- Identification card and CPF of parents in case of minors;
- Proof of vote in the last two elections;
- If married, marriage certificate. If not, birth certificate;
- If applicable, previous passport (valid or expired).
Military Enrolment Certificate
- Photocopy and original (only photocopy if through agent/broker);
- Mandatory presentation for men up to the age of 46.
Rates
- Individuals that request a passport personally must only pay the "DARF";
- In the case of individuals that request a passport through a broker/agent, the "DARF" is included in the broker/agent service fees.
Requesting a Passport
- Go to the nearest Federal Police Unit or contact the Alatur Documentation Department (Departamento de documentação Alatur) at +55 11 3217-6140 and +5511 3217-6139;
- Normal waiting period for passport issuance is five work days, which can be reduced to three days or even 24 hours with payment of the equivalent urgency rate;
- The Passport Request Form contains a list of required documents and official forms of the Federal Police;
- Power-of-attorney for the agent can be obtained from the Alatur Travel Consultant (or at the customer service desk, if applicable).
Have you lost your Passport?
You are in the middle of a trip in a foreign country and you realize you have lost your passport. What do you do?
- In case of loss or theft of your passport, go to your Consulate in the country you are visiting immediately. They will re-issue your document;
- Do not forget to visit your Consulate. Failure to show your passport to any foreign authority when requested may lead to arrest or deportation to your country of origin.

- You should go to the authority responsible for visa clearance, which is the consulate of each country;

Vacinas
Various countries demand the presentation of an international vaccine card. Contact the Alatur Documentation Department and request information on the possible requirement of this card at your destination.
